Baby Names…

So now that all the immediate family is here…the names.

The boy is named Kirby Ray, first name is his Great-great-grandfather’s on Vickers’ side and his middle name from his Grandfather on Vickers’ side.

The girl is named Minetta Ann (we’ll call her Minnie), which is her Grandmother’s name on my side.

Thank you all for being so patient and waiting on the names. Mom and babies are still doing great.

WOOOOOOT!!

Mom And Babies

Just got a call from Vickers…her protein was up this morning and from that they have decided to schedule delivery for TODAY!! At 4:00!!

I am heading up to the hospital and will update you all with more details as soon as I have them if I can.

WOOT!

Are all of you on pins and needles too? I thought I’d be emailing you all with a definitive date and time for the arrival of the twins, but it’s looking like it’s still the same outlook…hurry up and wait. Vickers talked to our OB this morning and the OB said the goal is 38 weeks (a week from today) and nothing in Vickers’ lab work indicates that they should (or need) to deliver before then. This is not what we heard from the doctor that was on-call over the weekend. In fact, that doctor said that we should have already delivered by now because of the lab results. It’s a bit frustrating to hear differing opinions from people that are experts in their field, however we know that some doctors can be more aggressive than others and our OB is more on the conservative side–or if you ask Vickers more on the sadistic side. ;)

So, I ask for you all to just pray that Vickers has the continued strength to endure bed rest for another week. She’s been so strong these past two weeks and I am amazed at how she’s dealt with being in the hospital. We both were really hoping that the news this morning was going to be that we’d have a scheduled delivery this week and the news of waiting longer was a bit of a let down. We know God has this all planned out and we are looking to Him for strength and hope.

As for the twins themselves, they are enjoying being in the womb. They get monitored at least once a day and their heartbeats have been strong and steady. The girl likes to try to kick off the monitor from time to time and I think she’s taught her brother the same trick. The nurses now try to catch them when they are sleeping to monitor them. They had another sonogram and they are looking great with both being estimated well over 6lbs each.

Hope you all enjoy your week and I’ll post another update as soon as anything changes!

I think it’s time for soon-to-be daddy to have a “talk” with the twins. They are still holding firm with staying in “the oven”. Vickers had some more tests this morning and the Doctor said there was nothing that would promt her to schedule delivery at this time, but also they were not good enough to let Vickers go home for bed rest. :(

She did have a sonogram yesterday; the girl is estimated to be about an ounce shy of 7lbs, and the boy is right at 6lbs. So babies are looking healthy and growing everyday, and the longer they stay in the better. However, mommy-to-be would love to get home and sleep in her own bed. I must say, Vickers is a rock star and doing a great job of staying positive, but a prayer for her to stay strong and not go stir crazy being in a hospital room 24/7 would be great.

Also, we are in the 36th week of the pregnancy which is a huge milestone for twins. YAY! All organ systems are fully developed and in place, but their lungs will be last to reach maturity (which is happening this week).

Stay tuned!!

We thought Vickers and the twins might get to share a birthday, however, it’s not looking that way. The doctor said her numbers were looking good and her BP has improved. There was a drop in her platelets, but they were still in the good range. They are estimating a mid week delivery now. We are getting soooo excited and know God has this all planned out.

We have also received wheelchair privileges so we can take one or two outings a day and get her out of the room for a bit. Today we plan to visit the nursery and see all the babies!

“He makes me lie down in green pastures…” (Emphasis Vickers’)

Vickers was doing her bible study and came across this verse. She truly laughed out loud. We are still at the hospital on bed rest and just heard from the doctor that they would like to keep us here a bit longer.

Overall she and the twins are doing fine. We have been watching movies and talking about all the fun things we get to do once the little ones make their grand entrance. Our Doctor likes to keep things on the conservative side so that’s why we are spending a few more days here, really It’s just more of a precautionary measure.

For those of you that are local and would like to visit, come on down. We are in the North Tower of Building A, room 773, Medical City Dallas. The room is under Sondra Sanchez, not Vickers. Just give us a call or txt letting us know when you will be coming.

Thank you all for the continued prayers and emails.

Just got the results for Vickers’ protein test. It was just a bit over what they would like to see, so they have decided to keep her here for 2 or 3 more days. She’s feeling great, although she’d rather head home, or at least get out of this room. The twins are still “in the oven” and are doing great (we get to hear their heartbeats when they monitor them).

We know God has this all under control and just ask for continued prayers for Vickers’ and the twin’s health. Ohh and peace for me. ;)

No, the twins are not here yet.

Just wanted to update you all. All is fine and this is just a routine “thing”, however Vickers has earned herself a 24 hour stay at the hospital. Her blood pressure was elevated and they found protein in her urine. Both are signs of preeclampsia, so they are going to monitor her and the twins. If all goes well she’ll be released tomorrow around 11:15.

I’ll keep you all updated as best as I can. Just pray that her and the twins stay safe and healthy.

Love ya all…

From Vickers’ Facebook:

Went to the perinatologist/specialist today for routine check up at 35 weeks. Baby girl (in utero) weighs 5 lbs 14 oz & baby boy (in utero) weighs 5 lbs 4 oz. Um, thats over 11 lbs of baby!!!! No wonder I can’t breathe, sleep, walk, etc, etc and all I do is pee!!

We have a strange feeling they are going to be coming sooner rather than later…maybe this week. Vickers is praying for April 18th, her birthday.
